Drug abuse has become a social problem in many societies. what is its impact on society and how this issue can be addressed? State your view with reasons and examples.

Drug abuse, a bane on the society, has been in existence from time immemorial. its negative impact on individual and society is so complex that most of the remedial measures taken by government have become futile. To prevent drug abuse, and to fight drug related crime government, the world over have been spending huge amounts of money. it is certain that this issue can be addressed with stringent punishment and awareness campaigns. This essay analysis some of the effects of drug abuse on society and suggests solutions to this perennial problem.

At the outset, many problems has been created by drug abuse which have effect on society. Drug addicts usually do misbehave with their family members and near and dear ones which consequently reduces their respect in the family as well as in the society.  they feel neglected just because of the behaviour they are doing with the others. In addition, increase in the crime is the another effect of it. Criminal gangs and underworld are getting earned by the revenue they are getting from the drugs and they are focusing more and more people to be drug addicts and  who are not getting enough money to have drugs, do crimes which consequently inclining the rate of crime in the society.

Another pertinent effect of this problem is unemployment. People these days are not getting jobs neither of their choice nor of any other type and for running their livelihood properly they start taking and selling the drugs. As they do not know that this path leads them to which way but for having better life style they are grabing the every possible way they have.

The menace of the drugs can be fought, education is the first step towards it. Curriculum should be redesigned in such a way that students are taught about the negative impacts of the drug abuse in schools and colleges. Apart from it, awareness campaigns should be conducted by the statutory bodies and NGO's to educate both the young and old alike so that they can know the bad impacts of drugs on their personal and professional life. What's more, implementation and enact new rules for the proper execution of law and order is required so that activities of such people who are increasing the crime rate can be reduced down.

The gist of the matter is that drug abuse is disturbing problem and it only can be solved by the accumulative efforts of governments, police authorities and public with civic sense. if all of these sectors united their efforts in the betterment of the society then surely issue of drug abuse addressed effectively.
